Our range of Mini Fibreglass Bonnets is second to none. Bonnets come into a number of categories: Single skinned These are outer shells, which have the shape of the Bonnet, but no internals. These "quick release items" are motorsport style items, but most are fitted to road cars. Bonnet pins are required to fit these items. Hinge Blocked This in between stage is actually a single skinned bonnet with hinge mounts bonded into the shell. This allows use of the standard Mini hinges at the rear, although at the front bonnet pins, straps or clips are still required. Double Skinned This is the top spec, featuring hinge blocks, and an internal brace. This brace is X shaped in the standard Round nose Mini bonnet, and V shaped in the Clubman, just like those fitted to metal ones. In both cases the safety catches, and spring loaded clasp can be transferred and bonded in. Materials. These bonnets are available in Fibreglass, Carbon Fibre, Kevlar, or Carbon/Kevlar Mix. The former is intended for road use and the latter three for Motorsport. Another alternative - visible weave carbon is available on some items, by special request and at special cost! Advantages. The main advantages of these bonnets is: light weight, incredible choice of styles, and they do not rust. If you were intending on fitting bonnet vents then these bonnets could save a lot of time on what is normally a very difficult job to do well. The Gti bonnet is functional in letting in fresh cool air to carb and radiator, and others perform useful tasks for some applications, such as covering 16 valve bulges.
SAFETY CATCHES. Minis have a bad habit of opening their bonnets whilst you are driving along, which could have disastrous consequences, therefore we recommend that you NEVER run a Mini without a safety catch, and often fit a back-up ourselves. |
