We produce a kit to enable customers to convert their
Normal Hardtop Mini into a fully open convertible like those pictured below.
The kit includes all parts necessary to complete the
conversion except for the tools and accessories required. The kit includes all
the strengthening and finishing items required, along with a hood frame, and
good quality hood in double duck (or plastic at no extra cost), or mohair which
is an extra cost option. The kit also includes instructions, and costs £1250.00
inc mainland UK postage and packaging. We charge £3750.00 for a
drive-in - drive-out service.

This is the end result. You can see the hood frame
stowed below the stylish hood cover, and the door frame strengthening
plates in the corners near the mirrors. This car also has a fibreglass
front, and the very popular on convertibles bodykit, which in this case
is the ERA kit. |
In this picture you can see that all the red items
are strengthening, and the white parts are original panel work. The
yellow is the outer bodywork.
Unseen in this photo is the galvanized replacement
sills, and the strengthening that is inside them.
The screen pillar strengthening, and quarter panel
strengthening are not normally supplied with the kit, as strictly
speaking they are not necessary - this car is a one-off experiment. |

Here we see the more normal strengthening present on
another car. Note the triangular pieces between the uprights at the
front of the door, and the main floor pan strengthening.
The previously hollow dashboard/parcel shelf area has been beefed up,
and a thicker cross member helps the situation. Rear lockers under the
rear seat form part of the strengthening, and provide secure storage
space. |
Here you can see the strengthening laid out - there is a
lot of it which is why the conversion takes between 60 and 100 hours,
depending upon your experience and skill. |
